Latchmere School

Welcome from the Head of School

Dear Parents,

We are immensely proud of our thriving, inclusive school where a love of learning is promoted within a safe and happy environment and where every person feels valued. We believe that working in partnership with parents, carers, governors and our community is essential to ensure our success. Latchmere School provides a happy, welcoming and caring environment for children and their family throughout the years they are with us. A family atmosphere is fostered within our setting, enabling children to feel confident to express their individuality, their talents and know that success in any aspect of their lives will be rewarded and celebrated.

At Latchmere School we ensure our whole school curriculum is rich and rigorous, and designed with our community and pupils in mind. We have a diverse community and pride ourselves on developing all of our children’s cultural capital through a variety of experiences both inside and outside the classroom. We believe that young children learn best when they are stimulated by exciting and challenging lessons which motivate them to learn. We actively encourage children to be inquisitive about the world around them and ask questions. Our aim is to create a lifelong love of learning in every child and celebrate success.

Fortunately, we have a large team of talented, caring and dedicated staff who work hard to ensure outstanding progress for all of our children. We greatly value the views of the whole school community and throughout the year provide opportunities for both children and parents to contribute their ideas. Our LSPA (Latchmere School Parents Association) work alongside us to ensure that we have the additional funding to make amazing things happen.

We would love you to visit us and experience the welcoming ethos of our school. You will discover for yourself how our confident and inquisitive children are challenged and equally nurtured as they develop the skills to equip them for their journey as lifelong learners. Your children are important to us and ensuring their safety, wellbeing and enjoyment for learning is our priority.

I am often available in the playground at the beginning or end of the day. Please do come and say hello. If you require a more formal meeting I am always happy to meet parents should they wish to discuss any issues regarding their child’s education. Please make an appointment through the school office or email headteacher@latchmereschool.org  if you wish to speak with me.

Best wishes

Carolyn Coles
