Latchmere School

Welcome from the Head of School

Dear parents,

Welcome to Latchmere School – a vibrant and inclusive community where every child is encouraged to thrive. We are incredibly proud of the nurturing environment we have built, where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn. At the heart of our school is a strong sense of belonging and mutual respect, where every child is valued for who they are.

We believe that the partnership between school and home is essential to our success. By working closely with parents, carers, governors, and the wider community, we create the foundation for a happy, successful school journey. From nursery through to Year 6, we aim to foster a warm, family-like atmosphere where children grow in confidence, express their individuality, and feel proud of their achievements—whatever form they take.

Our curriculum is designed to be both rich and purposeful, shaped by the needs and interests of our pupils. We embrace the diversity of our community and are committed to broadening every child’s experiences through meaningful learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Whether it's an inspiring lesson, a school trip, or a visit from an expert, we aim to spark curiosity and instil a lifelong love of learning.

We set high expectations for both personal and academic growth. Our goal is to ensure every child leaves Latchmere with a deep understanding across all subject areas, as well as the confidence, resilience, and moral grounding to succeed in the next stage of their education. Enrichment opportunities such as trips, workshops, and residentials further enhance our offer, helping children develop independence and leadership as they prepare for secondary school.

Behind all of this is a dedicated team of talented and caring staff, committed to helping every child reach their full potential. We also deeply value the voice of our school community. Throughout the year, we welcome ideas and feedback from both parents and pupils. Our fantastic Latchmere School Parents Association (LSPA) also plays a vital role in supporting the school and helping bring special projects to life.

I’m often in the playground at drop-off and pick-up – please don’t hesitate to come and say hello. If you'd like a more formal conversation, I’m always happy to meet and discuss any questions or concerns. You can make an appointment by emailing me directly at headteacher@latchmereschool.org.

Best wishes
