SEND

Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for the children with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25.  This is known as the ‘Local Offer’.

The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice and transparency for families.  It will also be an important resource for parents in understanding the range of services and provision in the local area.  Information is published as part of the SEND reforms under the Children and Families Act 2014.

At Latchmere, we strive to create a challenging learning environment with an atmosphere of encouragement, acceptance, respect for achievements, and sensitivity to individual needs in which all children thrive. We identify those children with special educational needs as early as possible and quickly devise individual education plans to fit their needs. These are monitored regularly with parents in line with our Special Educational Needs Policy.

If you are concerned that your child has special educational needs, we are keen for you come and share your concerns with the class teacher. If we identify difficulties, we will want to discuss them with you as soon as possible so that we can act together.
