Governors
The Governing Body plays a key role in helping to oversee the strategic direction of the school, working in partnership with the Headteacher, Senior Management Team and Trustees of the Latchmere Academy Trust. The main aim of a Governing Body is to ensure the delivery of a high standard of education for all pupils in its care.
At Latchmere School, we have an active and enthusiastic Governing Body. The governors are made up of elected representatives from parents and staff and community representatives. The work of the Governing Body is varied and we are fortunate to have a vast range of experience within our team. The governors try to ensure they visit the school and participate in school events as frequently as possible. This enables governors to gain a fuller understanding of how the school works and the way in which our children are educated.
How to become a governor
There are no particular qualifications or requirements for becoming a governor, other than a willingness to give time to the role and a capacity for working with other people. If you are interested in becoming a governor at Latchmere School or if you have queries about our work, then please contact the Clerk to the Governors.
Letter from the Chair
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to a new year at Latchmere School, and in particular a warm welcome to all our new families that have joined us.
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself, Rebecca Wilkinson, as the new Chair of Governors at Latchmere School. My fellow governors and I are proud and feel very privileged to represent the school, to inspire our children to maximise their potential in a supportive and safe environment.
I would also like to thank our previous Chair, Maurice Press, for his hard work and dedication working closely with the school over the last few years.
We recognise that to achieve the most successful outcomes for our children, a strong partnership between the school, governors, parents and carers, and most importantly the children is key. We are, therefore, always keen to engage with and seek the views from the school community, so please don’t hesitate to contact myself (rwilkinson@latchmereschool.org) or any of the other governors should you have any thoughts or ideas you would like to share (you can meet our governors here).
The governors are currently working closely with Mrs Steels and the Senior Leadership Team on the priority areas in our updated School Development Plan (2022-2025), and you will hear more from Mrs Steels on these priority areas in the coming weeks.
We hope that 2022-2023 will be a successful and happy one for your child(ren), and I look forward to connecting with as many of you as possible over the coming year.
Kind regards,
Rebecca Wilkinson
